It has been very busy here. racing to work, then to the hospital and racing back home. So there hasn't been a lot of time to write something, I'm afraid. But luckily I have a day off and love to post something again to tell you what's been going on in our household!
Last week, I felt that I deserved something nice for myself and looked around on the internet. For some time now, I have been a fan of the work of Ingrid Jansen and her Wood & Wool stools. she also sells these christmas trees that are made from wood and I also wanted one but never bought one, until now... I saw this amazing tree that just had to mine! So I bought it and two days later it arrived and I am sooooooo happy with it!!
I haven't hung it yet but for now it stands proudly in the diningroom nearby our 'newly' old woodburner.
For christmas, I'm going to hang little ornaments in them and I think I'll leave it in the room and not only for the holiday season.
I'm really happy with it and recommend it to everyone because it's just something different but still recognizable.
The shops are starting to sell all kinds of christmas things. I talked to the woman who runs a flowershop nearby from where I live and she said that they are starting the preparations this weekend. Can't wait to see the end result! And what about you, have you already bought something for the holiday season?

Brussels
Last saturday, S and I went to Brussels, Belgium, to celebrate a late christmas. We both worked both christmas days and didn't see each other most of the days so we made plans to celebrate it together in a beautiful hotel, the Dominican, in Brussels.
We went by train and within two hours, we arrived at Brussels central station and a taxidriver took us to the hotel. S told me that the hotel just opened last year and that it was one of the beautiful hotels in Brussels, but I was pleasantly surprised!
The restaurant
A lounge area in the bar
We stayed in an executive room and I really liked the colourscheme they had chosen.
And what can I say about Brussels? Beside the point that the shopping part was a bit dissapointing, I loved the atmosphere, architecture and the people. While we were there, there was a christmas faire which gave us a real christmas feeling. I tried the Gluhwine (warm red whine where you have to put sugar in) and ate traditional waffles, loved it! and S ate, well this...
Because the weather was cold but sunny, I made some pictures of the city.
On saturday evening, the temperature was so cold outside that we decided to stay inside and had dinner at the restaurant in the hotel and it was really good. Als the breakfast in the morning was good, so we really enjoyed ourselves.
It's terrible but on the way back from Brussels, we talked about our next holiday and hopefully we're going skiing in Austria next month. But maybe a new citytrip to stockholm maybe... We'll see. I'll keep you informed!
Happy new year!
I would like to wish you all a beautiful and terrific 2009. Hope you're new years eve was great and that you're ready for the new year.
If I had to give one new years resolution, it would be that I'm going to blog more often that I did the last year. And I hope to hear more from you because sometimes I wonder if anyone is reading about my little life. And because 2009 is going to be my last year in my twenties (yes, next year I'll turn 30!), I promised myself last night to enjoy this year as much as possible because a lot has happened the last couple of years and unlike a lot of women, I can't wait to turn 30 and begin a new chapter in my life! Sounds a bit weird but we can't do anything about aging so you might just as well accept it and enjoy the different aspects of life in different times in our lives.
Well, this turned out a bit more serious than I thought but nevertheless, it's written and I mean every word of it ;-).
Hope none of you have to work today or have to go anywhere and just relax and enjoy the new day of the year!
Talk to you soon!

Riviera Maison concept store
Last week, I went to the Riviera Maison concept store in Rotterdam with my father and his wife. It's my alltime favourite interiorstore!
The store is an old barn that they made into a interiorstore. There's a huge shoppingmall around it and the barn was a protected building so they couldn't break it down. So they had to build around it and now the barn is in the shoppingmall!

Christmas breakfast
I know christmas is almost over but I just worked the entire two days but I still had time to had breakfast bij myself.
I found the christmas plate and cup and saucer, there from Wedgewood and I completely forgot that I had them but found it just on time. It brought a little feeling about christmas. But I can't wait for tomorrow when we go to Brussels! That's going to be our christmas time!

Merry Christmas!
Just wanted to wish everyone a wonderful christmas, wherever you are!
S and I are working but we celebrated it last night and it was lovely. This weekend, we'll be in Brussels for two days, going to the christmas market and do a bit of shopping. Can't wait but first work for two whole days... At least we have something to look foward to.
Enjoy this day and this time of year, love the one you're with and relax, even if the christmas dinner doesn't quite go as you had in mind ;-)

Christmas at our house
In between work, shopping for christmas presents and just being busy, I had put up the christmas tree!
The other day, there was a man at the hotel singing "It starting to look a lot like christmas" and ever since that song is in my head, ha ha.
S has no idea that these presents are not all for him, hi hi.
My two santa's. Usually, I seperate them and put them in different places but I thought that they looked nice together, don't you think?
Well, It's something nice to come home for, putting on the lights and just enjoy this time of year. Unfortunately, S and me are working during christmas but we are going to celebrate christmas on the 27th so we extended christmas for another day (christmas is celebrated for two days in the Netherlands). We problably going to cook something simple and spend all day in our pj's and enjoying ourselves! I can't wait.

Christmas at work
Yesterday, a group of work decorated the hotel in christmas style and it turned out beautiful!
De people at the flowerstore where we buy all of our flowers and plants made a real special creation, don't you think? See what they made as a christmasball ornament...
I worked on the stairs, this was only for the picture for the photographer to make a group picture because the decoration isn't fireproof, unfortunately. But it looks great, right?
I'm about to go out to buy our christmas tree and then tomorrow I'll decorate it, looking forward to it!
